Business movers: People starting new jobs in Ireland

Here is a selection of people starting new roles with HOMS Assist, Three, Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, BDO Ireland, Takeda Ireland and Orbitus.
Ăine McSweeney has been appointed to of counsel with law firm HOMS Assist, a senior advisory role. She is a trusted advisor in the most complex of medical negligence cases. Since 2004, she has specialised in advising on personal injury law, medical negligence, product liability, and catastrophic injuries. She has represented clients from the Circuit Court to the High Court, and has substantial experience with the Personal Injuries Resolution Board (PIRB). She holds a specialised diploma in healthcare law. Her approach combines thorough professionalism with heartfelt empathy, tailoring her advice and advocacy to the unique needs of each client. The firm has offices in Dublin, Limerick and Cork.
Justin Conry has been appointed as chief performance and planning officer with mobile telecoms provider Three. He has worked in Three for over 10 years, initially as head of transformation and then moving to a role between Three Ireland and Three UK as director of portfolio and change. Justin has led digital transformation programmes in both Three Ireland & Three UK. Most recently, he was programme director at Three Ireland, leading the organisationâs move to Enterprise Agile, enhancing employee experience and speeding up the delivery of new products to customers. His prior experience includes roles with Aviva Europe, Microsoft, BearingPoint and Vodafone Ireland.
Carolyn Donohoe has been appointed as CEO with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland. She joined NMBI in 2021 as director of education, policy and standards and has been its interim CEO since April 2024. She brings significant nursing experience across critical care nursing education and management, as nursing practice development coordinator, and in perioperative services management. She holds postgraduate qualifications in nursing education and business strategy; her focus is on leadership and regulation for the professions of nursing and midwifery. She led NMBIâs reform in regulatory inspections, setting standards for nursing and midwifery practice. She provided a roadmap for safe and effective practice.
Ian Barrett has been appointed as a restructuring partner in business restructuring and insolvency team with BDO Ireland, the audit, tax, consulting and advisory firm. Ian joins BDO with 20 yearsâ senior experience in restructuring and insolvency. He was MD in KPMGâs turnaround and restructuring practice. Ian has led or managed complex restructuring engagements including creditors voluntary liquidations, members voluntary liquidations, court liquidations, examinerships, SCARPs and receiverships. He has advised financially distressed businesses across retail, construction, financial services, property, aviation, healthcare, motor and hospitality. He also brings valuable experience in reviewing company failures and advising on improvements in governance and business practices.
Deirdre Connaughton has been appointed as the new Bray site lead with Takeda Ireland, the pharma firm specialist in rare diseases, oncology and gastroenterology. The firm has four sites in Ireland. With 18 yearsâ tenure with Takeda Ireland, she takes on the role following seven years as head of business excellence with Takeda Bray. She was a member of the site leadership team, leading the business excellence function. She was also operations manager for packaging at Takeda Bray, compliance manager and project manager, as well as validation engineer. In these roles, she has further strengthened her understanding of the operations and requirements of the Takeda Bray site.
Eoin Casey has been appointed as head of litigation with Orbitus, an interdisciplinary advisory firm specialising in legal and tax advisory services. Eoin brings over 15 years of specialised solicitor experience in litigation. He was a senior litigation solicitor with Cork-based PJ O'Driscoll & Sons LLP for the past eight years, managing complex cases, advising on commercial and civil litigation matters as well as in employment law. Prior to that, he worked in general and commercial litigation with Dillon Solicitors in Dublin for two years. He brings valuable international expertise in commercial litigation, notably in Australia, with a particular focus on insolvency law and debt recovery.
